Die Anfangsjahre von Shelby bilden die Basis zu diesem neuen Buch und werden viele Fans sicher in ihrem Bann ziehen. Da sind zum einen die wirklich sehr guten Aufnahmen von Dave Friedman der als Fotograf für Shelby aktiv war und tief in sein Archiv greifen konnte. Viele der Bilder sind bis zu diesem Buch nicht veröffentlicht worden und andere sind nur selten zu finden. Zu Anderen liefern die Texte zu den einzelnen Jahren die persönlichen Erinnerungen der Mitarbeiter von Shelby und liefern somit einem direkten Blick auf die damaligen Verhältnisse. Einen tieferen Einblick kann man kaum ermöglichen und so findet sich der Leser direkt bei dem Aufbau einer Legende wieder. Dabei wird ein ums andere Mal auch deutlich das Shelby nicht nur die Cobra zu verantworten hatte, sondern stattdessen bei vielen Projekten involviert war. Das es dann für die ersten Räumlichkeiten zu eng wurde scheint im Nachhinein wenig verwunderlich. Aber auch dies trug sicher zur Legende der Venice Jahre bei und dies lässt auch der Autor dem Leser abermals aus erster Hand erfahren.Technisch ist das Buch sehr gut umgesetzt und kann mit einem tollen Schutzumschlag sofort überzeugen. Die optische Aufmachung ist passend dazu gewählt und wirkt durchaus modern ohne zu aufdringlich zu wirken.Für aktuell etwas über 40 Euro ist das Buch eine Sünde sicher wert. Für die komplette Shelby-Bibliothek scheint das Werk geradezu unverzichtbar und darf keinesfalls fehlen. Aber auch die Freunde des Motorsports aus den 60er Jahren können hier einiges entdecken und werden sicher ihre Freude an dem Buch haben.
